Keep it simple
Greetings,
Every day is a new beginning.
Another chance —
to learn more about ourselves,
to care more about others,
to laugh more than we did,
to accomplish more than we could,
to be and become more than we were before.
Do you ever make life more difficult than it needs to be? I do.
I worry about things that haven't happened—and probably won't happen. Rather than exploring possibilities, I create complexity and fear. Then, I miss the simplicity of stepping back, taking a breath, and living in this one moment.
Today, I will take the advice of Carol Borges... "keep your heart free from hate, your mind free from worry, live simply, expect little, give much.”
Inspiration worth sharing . . .
I wrote about intentions and simple routines because we all need little help in getting out of our rut or finding the simple hiding behind the surrounding clamor.
When I first read Henry David Thoreau, I don't think I fully understood or appreciated the power of living in simplicity. Still, I found his words and observations intriguing. Linda Caroll reminded me that Thoreau's Walden was never about man versus nature. In "A Different Drummer," she shares more of his story.
“Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity! I say let your affairs be as one, two, three and to a hundred or a thousand. We are happy in proportion to the things we can do without.” ~ Thoreau
Find peace in the lyrics of Simple Things, and no matter what life brings, join Louis Armstrong and think to yourself, What a Wonderful World.
Inspiring words . . .
I have learned by some experience, by many examples, and by the writings of countless others before me, also occupied in the search, that certain environments, certain modes of life, certain rules of conduct are more conducive to inner and outer harmony than others. There are, in fact, certain roads that one may follow. Simplification of life is one of them.
