Choose joy.
Greetings,
As March rolled into May that rolled into August, that now finds me near the end of October, where is joy amidst division, pandemic, and separation?
I’ve always been an optimist. For me, the glass is always half full.
But now and then, I need a boost. As I listen to my friends and family, I know that I am not alone.
When I catch myself falling into the muddy waters of gloom, I go searching for what makes me smile and brings joy. That usually includes words of inspiration, images that capture my imagination, and, of course, music.
For you and me, here are a few of the favorites that help me choose joy.
Inspiration worth sharing . . .
Anne Frank’s life ended too soon, but she left a remarkable writing legacy in her diary.
“Whoever is happy will make others happy too.”
"I don’t think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains."
And, finally,
"Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news is that you don’t know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can accomplish! And what your potential is!"
My mother tried so hard to make my straight blond locks look like Shirley Temple. Instead, her daughter fell in love with the music and dancing while singing along to Animal Crackers in My Soup.
Three Little Birds send a delightful message to not worry about a thing.
Whenever I sit on the swing with one special person, I am on Top of the World.
We haven't traveled this year, and doctor appointments don't count.
Photographs from far away and around my home remind me that joy is more than a time or place. Of all the places I might go in the future, the view outside my window never fails to spark my gratitude.
Take time today for the simple joys that find us if we choose to look for them.
Inspiring words . . .
"Joy is the holy fire that keeps our purpose warm and our intelligence aglow.”
—Helen Keller
Be and become #yourbest today and every day.
With gratitude,
Kathryn
