Hello friends,
Let this be the September you remember to . . .
Take a moment to look out your window. You have a choice every day. Do you see darkness, or even as night surrounds you, the brightness of the moon caressing both your joys and sorrows?
Stop worrying. Live life a bit more carefree. I watch the butterflies in the garden and remind myself how they go about their days with purpose, flitting across the blooms.
Butterflies don’t worry. They live each day of their short life span engaged in what matters most. That’s how I want to spend every September and all my days.
Let go. When I sat down to write this morning, my desk was a pile of notebooks, draft stories, letters, books, multiple pens, a glue stick, letters, notes, more electronic accessories than one person should own, and a pile of TBR (to be read) books.
I felt the heaviness of clutter but couldn’t determine how to let go of the stuff. The feeling wasn’t limited to my desk. The weightiness has seeped into every nook and cranny of our house.
Clinging does not serve us well. Sometimes, we must let go of all the things, disappointments, and regrets.
Embrace the unknown. We humans balk at change and uncertainty, but if you look at the natural world, transformation is constant. Seasons come and go.
No two sunsets ever look alike. Leaves turn brown, raining colors. All matter of life transitions and migrates like the hummingbirds that visit our feeders.
You and I may not know what tomorrow brings. Why not live waiting, no, expecting something beautiful to happen?
No doubt, you’ve been to many places in this life, but you haven’t been everywhere.
Try to remember, and if you remember, then follow, follow.
Today, you have 1,440 opportunities to create meaningful memories for yourself and others because defining moments unlock the secret of a great life.

“Nostalgia— that's the autumn, dreaming through September. Just a million lovely things I will remember.”
—Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
Find a little wonder this week, and as you let go of September, savor the defining moments now and in the future.
With gratitude,
Kathryn

Beautiful photographs to go with your wise advice. I especially loved the moon shot.
